Perceptions of reality

(Warning, pop culture spoilers)

So, I think I have a different level of sensitivity than other people. Two examples:

Toy Story 3. I can't tell you the number of people I've interacted with who were all like, "oh, what a sweet movie!" I sat through that movie horrified and dumbfounded. Just one example: The whole series sets up the idea that the toys are essntially immortal and have souls. And then they take Lotso and tie him to the front of a truck, where his corporeal form will rot over years until, what? Talk about cruel and unusual punishment.

Dr. Who. I was arguing with someone last night about the whole Harriet Jones thing. The person I was arguing with didn't seem to think that the punishment meted out by the Dr. was any big deal. She was like, "she just went over to Torchwood." I was shocked! I mean, the Dr. basically destroyed her identity! Ate her soul! Apparently I'm the only one who sasw it that way.
