Tomorrow we are going to pay off Theo's car, which means that for the foreseeable future we have no car payment. I have to whisper, or the universe will hear me. Or maybe the universe already got his, because our mortgage payment is going up (assessed value, and therefore taxes, going up.)
It's funny. We agreed that we are going to keep "spending" the $250 car payment by directing into savings. A little mental math, and I realize that means we will save 3 in a year. Yay! That's a nice chunk of change in a short amount of time. Our general mental car budget is 15K, so that would be... 5 years?!?
Mental perceptions are just so weird... 15K isn't that much more than 3K, right? But OMG 5 years is SO LONG compared to one year. Maybe this is why it's so hard to get proportional reasoning to sink into middle schooler brains.
