Almost reading

Kitty is cracking us up with her almost reading. She is able to say the letter sounds for all the consonants and short vowels, but doesn't quuiiite get how the sounds blend to make words. So she say, duh awh guh and then throw up her hands and exasperatedly say, "Oh, I don't know!" for the word. And only knowing the short vowels leads to funny things like heh eh luh luh awh (hello).

And she thinks the craziest things are funny. Yesterday we told her to go get some underpants so she could put on her costume. This somehow lead to a 20 minute mad dash back and forth from her room, where she variously put on striped leggings, a black ballet skirt, a pair of 12 month bloomers (like the ones that go under a baby's dress to cover the diaper), and a cat in the hat hat filled with a plastic fly, a couple of dice, and a magic wand. Finally she came back with unders AND socks.

Halloween was bunches of fun. She has OD'd on candy from the day care party on Friday to bedtime on Sunday. We went to a trick or treating preparty and then TOT'd with a whole crew of like 8 adults, 5 teenagers, and 10 seven and unders. Photos are up at the picasa site.
